The Metal Initiative Presents 2010 Building with Metal Webinar Series

Glenview, IL – In response to the increasing demand for information about the benefits of building with metal for commercial projects, The Metal Initiative (TMI) is sponsoring three complimentary informational webinars during the months of March, April, and May. The series was presented last fall and received high marks for information and value of content.

The Metal Initiative is committed to promoting the use of metal in the commercial building industry,” said Scott Kriner, the technical director and LEED AP for The Metal Initiative.  “Today’s building owners and facility managers are faced with many choices of products and decisions about systems to install. TMI’s webinar series explains many of the current issues related to how metal roofs and walls can be considered for building envelope components and used in retrofit projects.”

The first webinar features the presentation “Metal Roofs and Walls: From (A)luminum to (Z)inc,” on Thursday, March 11. This session will provide participants with:
•    An understanding of the differences between the metal roof and wall systems used in commercial buildings
•    The ability to recognize the design opportunities offered by these systems
•    An understanding of the environmental aspects of metal roofs and walls
•    An understanding of the economic aspects of metal roofs and walls

The second in the series, “Retrofit Roofs and Walls,” on Thursday, April 15, covers the hot topic of retrofit projects. By the end of this presentation, participants will:
•    Have fundamental knowledge of metal roof and wall systems used to retrofit buildings
•    Recognize various applications of retrofit metal roof and wall systems
•    Be apprised of the roof and wall issues that retrofit metal can resolve
•    Better understand the overall benefits when using metal systems on existing buildings
•    Be more familiar with the opportunities to save energy with these applications

Rounding out the series is “Building Green,” on Thursday, May 13.   Participants will go away with a better understanding of how metal roofs and walls can:
•    Reduce energy consumption in buildings
•    Improve air quality and thermal comfort
•    Help comply with energy codes
•    Reduce environmental impacts
•    Contribute to LEED points

All webinars will begin at 2 p.m. ET, 1 p.m. CT, and 11 a.m. PT; and all presentations provide AIA/CES credits.
