Flame Seal-TB Receives Industry’s First ICC Approval for 15-Min.
Fire Barrier Paint for SPF Insulation
Flame Seal Products, Inc. & Specialty Products, Inc. (SPI) announce that Flame Seal-TB, a spray-applied fire retardant paint, received the industry’s first and only International Code Council (ICC) approval as an alternative to a 15-minute thermal barrier for spray polyurethane foam insulation. National building code organizations require the use of a 15-minute thermal barrier over insulation used in walls and ceilings. Specialty Products, Inc. (SPI) of Lakewood, Washington is proud to be a part of this groundbreaking event as the exclusive distributor of Flame Seal-TB. Flame Seal-TB is eco-friendly and compliant with FDA/USDA for incidental food contact. The ultra thin-film intumescent paint can be applied with commercial airless spray equipment. This provides substantial labor savings compared to other types of thermal and ignition barrier products, and gives the building owner an aesthetically pleasing form of fire protection. The ICC Evaluation Report (ESR-2072) reviewed Flame Seal-TB and Bayseal CC insulation. This in-depth ICC report addresses all major code jurisdictions, including compliance with 2006 IBC, 2006 IRC, 2006 IECC, 1999 BNBC, 1999 SBC, and 1997 UBC codes. The ICC report and other product documentation can be downloaded online at Specialty Product’s Web site.

Convenience Products Introduces Touch ‘n Foam MaxFill
There is now an easy way for contractors, specifiers, and installers to save energy while reducing their carbon footprint. Convenience Products (www.convenienceproducts.com), the manufacturer of Touch ‘n Foam expanding foam adhesive sealants, introduces MaxFill, a triple-expanding foam sealant. MaxFill is made with renewable energy resources, which replace the petroleum-based raw materials found in other foams. Common interior uses of MaxFill include filling the gaps and voids around baseboards, basement walls, electrical junction boxes, wire and pipe penetrations and air, heating and dryer vents. Outside of the home, MaxFill creates an airtight, weather-resistant bond that seals out drafts along the bottom of siding edges where they meet the foundation, electric, gas and A/C penetrations, along garage ceiling and wall joints, and outdoor faucets. MaxFill is UL-listed and uses a reusable foam saver nozzle that allows for storage and later use. Once applied, the sealant can be sanded, spackled, and painted.
